Save With Your Local Library In the years since 1833 when the first library was established in Peterborough, New Hampshire, they have come a long way. Since that time libraries have become very sophisticated, technologically up-to-date and still a great place to get free books. You'll probably find at least some of these goodies at a library near you. Research Services
Most libraries now offer free information services to help you do more intensive research. To use these services, you simply tell a computer terminal what subject you want help learning about and you get back a list of articles relating to your topic. You can print any of the articles out full-text usually at no cost. The FirstSearch Service, available at 9,000 plus libraries, offers access to 150 million full-text articles from more than 35,000 periodicals, journals, and business directories as well as access to encyclopedias, phone books, almanacs, newspapers and more.
